Moving average of Covid cases increases 33.6% in one month

In the last 24 hours, Brazil recorded 229 new deaths from Covid-19 and accounted for 26,386 cases of the disease, according to data from the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass), released this Tuesday (17).

As a result, the moving average of cases was 19,128. This number represents an increase of 33.6% in one month. On April 17, the index was 14,317.

The moving average of deaths, for the third consecutive day of increase, marked 118.

The indices consider the average number of infections and deaths recorded in the last seven days. The data allow monitoring of the pandemic indicators without possible distortions caused by possible underreporting on weekends.

Amapá did not notify new data to Conass due to technical problems in accessing the information base, and that is why yesterday’s updates were kept.

In all, the country has recorded 30,728,286 infected people and 665,216 deaths from Covid since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.
