The Public Ministry of São Paulo and the state’s Civil and Military Police are carrying out an operation this Tuesday (1st) with the aim of investigating the involvement of public agents in bidding fraud in Baixada Santista. According to investigations, one of the benefited companies is linked to the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) faction.
According to the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat, the operation aims to fulfill 26 search and seizure warrants in cities in Baixada Santista and in the capital of São Paulo, in addition to investigating signs of irregularities in contracts with the City Council and the Guarujá City Hall.
According to the ministry, investigations pointed to alleged favoritism by public agents who received bribes to enable fraud.
One of the benefited companies belonged to a PCC leader who was shot to death on the night of March 12 of this year and was considered responsible for the attempt to create a militia in the region where he operated.
Until the end of the morning, the operation was still underway and several cell phones, documents, computers, hard drives and amounts of money were seized, which will be analyzed as part of the investigations.
THE CNN seeks contact with the City Hall and the Municipal Council of Guarujá and the space remains open for demonstrations.
