Villagers in Myanmar managed to save four savages elephants, who were trapped for hours in a pit full of mud after digging an escape route to save them.
Villagers in Rakhine State in western Myanmar usually avoid elephants when they come across them in the woods. But they were afraid that the animals would die if they remained in this hole, notes the ΑΠΕ-ΜΠΕ.
A video shows the four animals struggling to step on the slippery slope, on which the villagers dug “stairs” to help them. Eventually all the elephants came out – the latter even turned for a moment to the villagers who were watching them and cheering, but then followed his flock.
“We saved them because we know that elephants are in danger of extinction around the world and are part of our national heritage,” said Zau Pi Tan, 40. “They were so cute, that’s why everyone in our village came to save their lives,” he added.
It is not clear how the elephants ended up in the pit. There are only a few hundred elephants left in Rakine State today, up from several thousand decades ago.
