The “upgraded role of Greece” that emerged in the trip of the government mission to the US, which “exceeded all expectations”, was mentioned by the Minister of Education, Niki Kerameos in her statements to APE-MPE.
In her statement, Ms. Kerameos also spoke about the collaborations of Greek and American universities and the meetings she had with representatives of leading US universities regarding new collaborations.
“In the field of Greek-American relations, in addition to issues of armaments and foreign relations, education has also been added,” he stressed. “Greece has therefore entered the international map dynamically and is now entering the international academic map dynamically,” concluded Ms. Kerameos.
The full statement of the Minister of Education:
“I had the honor to be a member of the government delegation that traveled to America, on a visit that, I believe, objectively exceeded all expectations. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had the opportunity to raise all the issues that concern our country, from Greece, to issues of Greek-Turkish relations, to issues of armaments and was an opportunity to highlight the enhanced relationship between Greece and America, the enhanced role of Greece.Greece emerged as a strong, reliable partner, a pillar of stability in the southeastern Mediterranean. For many years, Greek-American relations focused on issues of armaments, issues of foreign relations, now another pillar has been added: that of education.
Greece has now entered the international academic map dynamically. It is indicative that I responsibly invited American universities, while we were in America, to discuss further ways of cooperation between American and Greek universities. More than twenty American universities have appeared and responded, and many of the top universities, such as Harvard, Columbia, and Johns Hopkins, have had the opportunity to discuss tangible new partnerships, and when I say partnerships, I mean dual degree programs, joint study programs. , participation of American universities in foreign language programs in our country, in summer programs.
“Greece has therefore entered the international map dynamically and is now dynamically entering the international academic map.”
