Nancy Pelosi: Teared up in front of the Armenian Genocide Memorial

The Armenian Genocide memorial in Yervan was visited by the speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, who is visiting Armenia.

While laying flowers at the memorial, Ms. Pelosi could not contain her emotion and began to cry.

Nancy Pelosi condemned what she called illegal attacks by Azerbaijan against Armenia.

More than 200 people lost their lives in the attacks.

Pelosi pointed out that her visit to Armenia is particularly important in the wake of “Azerbaijan’s illegal and murderous attacks.”

She added that “We strongly condemn these attacks”, she emphasized, saying that it is clear that the clashes were caused by Azerbaijan, while she asked them to stop.

The speaker of the House of Representatives also commented that the US should use its influence and power to show that Armenia’s sovereignty is a priority.

Pelosi, who is the highest-ranking US official to visit Yerevan since the small Caucasus country gained independence in 1991called her visit “a strong symbol of the United States’ steadfast commitment to a peaceful, prosperous and democratic Armenia and to a stable and secure Caucasus region” in a statement.
