National Construction Cost Index slows to 0.33% in August, says FGV

The National Construction Cost Index (INCC-M) cooled to 0.33% in August, after rising 1.16% in July, informed this Friday (26), the Brazilian Institute of Economics of the Getulio Vargas Foundation ( Ibre-FGV). As a result, the high accumulated in 12 months by the indicator slowed from 11.66% to 11.40%.

The relief from the INCC-M was spread among the components of Materials, Equipment and Services (0.60% to 0.14%) and Labor (1.76% to 0.54%).

In the openings, the index corresponding to Materials and Equipment dropped from 0.62% in July to 0.03% in August, driven by materials for structure (0.63% to -0.08%). The Services index, on the other hand, accelerated from 0.49% to 0.68% in the period, with emphasis on the relief of ready meals at the workplace (0.29% to 1.54%).

The main downward influences on the INCC-M in August were from PVC pipes and fittings (-0.10% to -3.16%), iron and steel pipes and fittings (0.85% to -2.76 %) and carbon steel rods and wires (-0.39% to -0.83%), followed by electrical conductors (-1.53% to -1.96%) and plywood (-0.82% to -0.50%).

On the other hand, the items specialized assistant (1.68% to 0.62%), concrete mass (1.50% to 1.78%) and servant (1.51% to 0, 41%), in addition to elevator (0.98% to 0.77%) and carpenter (1.80% to 0.52%).

The INCC-M decelerated in all seven capitals surveyed by FGV in August: Porto Alegre (4.31% to -0.08%), Salvador (1.23% to 0.15%), Rio de Janeiro (0, 55% to 0.08%), Recife (0.47% to 0.07%), São Paulo (0.97% to 0.65%), Belo Horizonte (0.24% to -0.06%) and Brasília (0.42% to 0.39%).
