THE CNN Specialist in social investment and inclusion, Neca Setubalspoke about the need to support favelas during the pandemic period.
“The consequences of Covid-19 for the economy, health and education have increased society’s awareness of the enormous social inequalities that affect favelas and peripheral communities throughout Brazil”, pointed out the expert.
Neca Setubal highlights the role that foundations and institutes play in subsidizing public policies in different regions of the country. “With this, we were able to see communities and favelas not only for their violence and social vulnerabilities, but mainly we were able to know these spaces through their numerous peripheral leaders, who articulated logistics to take donations to the most vulnerable families.”
Setubal states that another important aspect for improving the quality of life in the favelas is “to offer and create opportunities for businesses carried out by entrepreneurs in these communities, recognizing the importance for the country’s own development”, concluded the expert.
