Netanyahu suggests Beirut could become Gaza in warning to Hezbollah

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited northern Israel this Thursday (07), where he gave a direct warning to Hezbollah.

“If Hezbollah decides to open an all-out war, then with its own hands it will turn Beirut and southern Lebanon, which are not far from here, into Gaza and Khan Yunis,” he told soldiers during the visit to the border region with the minister of Defense Yoav Gallant.

The warning comes after an Israeli was killed by an anti-tank missile fired from Lebanon this Thursday (07), according to the MDA, the country’s national emergency medical and disaster service. The Israeli military said an anti-tank missile was fired from Lebanese territory toward the Mattat area in northern Israel.

Israel and Hezbollah – an Iranian-backed armed group that dominates southern Lebanon – have been engaged in daily exchanges of fire along the Lebanon-Israel border following the outbreak of conflict between Israel and Hamas on October 7, raising fears that fighting could turn into a regional war.
