The White House is expected to announce, perhaps even today, a new $ 1 billion military aid package to Ukraine, according to sources quoted by Reuters.
The weapons to be delivered to Kyiv include anti-ship missile systems and missiles for artillery and howitzers.
Earlier, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin called on Western countries to “intensify” arms supplies to Ukraine so that the country could defend itself against Russian forces.
“Ukraine is at a turning point on the battlefield. We must therefore redouble our efforts to be able to defend ourselves,” said NATO Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at the US-led Contact Group summit in Kyiv. .
