New headache for Erdogan: Adviser resigns after accusations of corruption by Turkish mafia boss

Adviser to the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan resigned yesterday, Tuesday, from his duties after became the target of corruption charges by a Turkish mobster.

“This lynching, which reached my daughter and my wife, again became a threat to my health. For these reasons, I am resigning from my position,” he announced in a message on Twitter Korkmaz Karacaa member of the Economic Council of the Turkish presidency and an executive of the Justice and Development Party (AKP), which is led by Erdogan.

Karaca was accused last weekend by Turkish mob boss Sedat Peker, who has fled to the United Arab Emirates, of being part of a group of high-ranking Turkish officials. who sought to be bribed by large Turkish businesses, which he denied.

Peker has been leaking in videos posted on Twitter and YouTube since last year accusations against high-ranking Turkish officials such as Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu, embarrassing the government less than ten months before the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.

Another Erdogan adviser who was targeted by the same accusations resigned from his post on Sunday.

Turkish opposition parties have called for an investigation into these allegations.
