A survey of CNN pointed out that, since December, at least 16,000 public health workers have been removed in seven state networks, 13 municipal networks and in the Federal District due to the Covid-19 or Influenza viruses. Both in Brazil and abroad, managers have faced difficulties in maintaining work schedules in health services in the face of the large number of leaves.
In this episode of E Tem Mais, Carol Nogueira presents an overview of the prolonged physical and mental exhaustion of those who have been working for almost two years on the front line of the fight against Covid-19 amid the new wave of cases in the country. A recent study revealed that nearly 80% of workers in the area reported negative consequences of the pandemic for their mental health and only 30% had any support in dealing with the problem.
To describe how this long period of fighting the coronavirus has affected health professionals, researcher Gabriela Lotta, professor of public administration and government at FGV-SP, and psychiatrist Helian Nunes de Oliveira, professor at UFMG and one of the creators of the Telepan Saúde project, which offers support to workers in the sector.
