Newegg Now Accepts Dogecoin

American online electronics store Newegg has added Dogecoin as a payment method through the BitPay processing service.

In 2014, the online retailer started accepting bitcoin. Representatives of Newegg called the current hype around digital assets undeniable.

“The recent rise in the value of Dogecoin underscores the need to make it easier for customers to shop with this popular cryptocurrency,” said Andrew Choi, senior brand manager at Newegg.

On April 16, the Dogecoin rate renewed its all-time high above $ 0.3. The next day, the cryptocurrency lost 36% in value.

On Tuesday, April 20, Dogecoin is trading in the $ 0.4 region. Over the course of the day, the coin has grown by 5.08% and holds the fifth line in the ranking of the largest cryptoassets in terms of capitalization with an indicator of $ 51.3 billion (according to CoinGecko).

Earlier, Charles Hoskinson, CEO of IOHK company behind Cardano, called Dogecoin a bubble and predicted the coin’s collapse.
