Oscar-winning actress, Nicole Kidman caught the internet’s attention this week with a new photo shoot for “Perfect Magazine”.
Kidman, who turned 55 in June, flexes her sculpted triceps on the magazine’s cover — a cascade of red hair falling over one shoulder with a chin-length part cut.
It’s not a gala outfit: Kidman is wearing pieces from Diesel’s Fall-Winter 2022 collection, which debuted at Milan Fashion Week in February – a highly praised collection filled with trucker hats, denim jackets and the belted skirt that Kidman uses.
A second cover shows Kidman in a colossal pair of thigh-high boots – similar to those seen on Rihanna last week – from Y/Project, a brand that, like Diesel, is run by Belgian designer Glenn Martens.
And throughout the 20-page fashion editorial, the photos capture Kidman in several internet-shattering looks, including the infamous nude print dress and double-jean ensemble.
It’s all in celebration of a new award bestowed on her by the magazine. Dubbed the “Perfect Icon” – one of 23 new awards launched in an attempt to highlight industry talent – Kidman is praised for her relentless curiosity and versatility.
“I make my decisions the way a teenager would,” she said in an interview. “Not throwing away the consequences. I always think, ‘I want to do this, I’m going to try’. She has her ups and downs. In fact, it makes for a really tumultuous career – which I enjoy.”

This penchant for dressing fearlessly has also given Kidman an edge in the high-fashion space. In February, she appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair’s latest “Hollywood Issue” in the notorious Miu Miu Spring-Summer 2022 micro-skirt – a piece so prolific that an Instagram account now diligently records every time it’s worn by anyone. an influencer or celebrity.
The look was even more dynamic because Kidman “begged” stylist Katie Grand – also the creative director of the Perfect shoot – to wear the cropped chino skirt, the actress told director Baz Luhrmann in an interview with “Vogue Australia”.
During Paris Haute Couture Week in July, Kidman joined Bella Hadid, Kim Kardashian and Dua Lipa on the catwalk to parade for the Balenciaga .
But the actress has been one of fashion’s most astute adventurers. In 1997, Kidman wore a Dior chartreuse dress made of embroidered silk to the Oscars.
Designed by John Galliano, the look caused such a stir that it now has its own dedicated Wikipedia page.

The dress’s color was so heavily criticized by comedian and red carpet critic Joan Rivers (who told Kidman the color was “making her throw up” and allegedly made vomiting noises when the actor walked by), some argue it helped to create “a cautious red carpet culture” that endures to this day.
“John (Galliano) made it for me, and I love it,” Kidman told Women’s Wear Daily at the time. “I don’t know if people will understand. But if not, maybe they should.”
Deeply intertwined with narrow beauty standards, fashion is often considered a youth game – with expectations about what to wear becoming increasingly restrictive as you get older.
But Kidman said that, for her, fun takes priority over adaptation. “Like I always say, ‘I’ll do whatever I want,’” she told Perfect.
“That’s probably why I click with photographers, because I’m not here to stamp myself on you, but for you to stamp on me and so we grow together. Let’s Play!”
