Shoe giant Nike has patented a shoe that is registered as a token (NFT) on the Ethereum blockchain.

In a patent application published Dec. 10, Nike said it plans to create unique identifiers as well as create ERC 721 tokens for some shoes. These sneakers are called CryptoKicks.
The digital shoes are now available for purchase with cryptocurrency and feature a style-changing Skin Vial NFT for personalization. Nike’s “tokenized” sneakers are styled after the Nike Dunk design, which was first introduced as a specialized basketball shoe in the 1980s and later became the main choice as an athletic shoe for skateboarders.

At the time of this news story, the minimum price for “tokenized” shoes is 1.6 ETH on OpenSea (approximately $4,500). At the same time, the company set a price of 200 ETH for some copies (neither more nor less – more than half a million US dollars).
