North Korea: Night parade on the 90th anniversary of the founding of its military

THE North Korea staged a night military parade, demonstrating its strength to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the founding of its army, according to a South Korean military source.

The parade started at around 22.00 local time, in Kim Il Sung Square of Pyongyang.

North Korea often organizes parades to celebrate important historical events. Thousands of soldiers, tanks and other armor are usually involved, while the main missiles of the country are presented.

Observers are watching closely for evidence of Pyongyang’s new military acquisitions.

It is expected that today’s parade will feature supersonic ballistic missiles as well as the intercontinental ballistic missile Hwasong-17.

This “rocket-monster” is capable of carrying many heads that each follow a different trajectory when they return to the atmosphere. It was first presented in October 2020, at a military parade in Pyongyang.

In recent years North Korea has organized three night parades and the state media have reported on them only the next day.
