Northern Macedonia today described six Russian diplomats as “personae non gratae”, according to the country’s Foreign Ministry.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Northern Macedonia, Russian Ambassador to Skopje Sergei Bazdikin was summoned to the ministry today and given a verbal statement, in which six diplomats of the Russian embassy are described as personae non gratae.
According to the announcement, Russian diplomats will have to leave the country in five days. According to the Foreign Ministry of Northern Macedonia, the six Russian diplomats were engaged in activities contrary to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and therefore have to leave the territory of Northern Macedonia.
By the end of March, northern Macedonia had deported five more Russian diplomats.
The government of Northern Macedonia has unequivocally condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and has largely followed EU decisions on the issue and imposed sanctions on Russia.
