It is a decision of sovereign states that have a right to their own decisions, especially when it comes to the well-being of their citizens. Northern Macedonia, as the newest member of the most powerful military-political alliance, has an obligation to pursue an open door policy with its partners, Finland and Sweden, with particular regard to the political and geographical environment as well as the security environment. With the full accession of Sweden and Finland, NATO will be particularly strengthened in its eastern wing“, where the biggest challenges come from, as is the case with the Russian military attack on Ukraine”, said the President of Northern Macedonia, Stevo Pentarovskiaccording to the Athenian News Agency.
Also, the government of Northern Macedonia authorized the country’s ambassador to NATO today to give its assent to the accession of Sweden and Finland to the North Atlantic Alliance.
