The team of the popular streaming music service Spotify has announced a complete cessation of work in Russia.

At the end of March, a German press release was released about this, but no details were reported in it. Now the Russian representative office has begun sending letters to users and an announcement has appeared on the site in the support section.
Here is what the Spotify team told its users today, April 7th:
After a thorough review of the current situation, we have made the difficult decision to completely suspend Spotify in Russia effective April 11, 2022.”
Earlier, the paid Premium subscription ceased to operate in Russia. For users who paid for it, the Premium action should have been preserved until the next write-off. At the same time, the registration of new Premium accounts was also suspended.
Now we are talking about the complete cessation of the service in Russia, including free accounts – all Spotify functions will become unavailable in Russia. When the service will start working again in Russia, the administration has not yet announced.
According to the developers, users can download their personal data in the “Privacy Settings” section – playlists, listening history, and so on.
Recall that officially Spotify began working relatively recently – in the summer of 2020. Thus, the service did not last even two years in Russia.
