Former US President Barack Obama is set to deliver a prime-time speech on Tuesday (20) during next week’s Democratic National Convention, according to two people familiar with the planning.
Obama joins a list of presidents set to address Democratic delegates, which also includes former President Bill Clinton and President Joe Biden. Both will speak on the first night of the event on Monday (19).
Event marks the official announcement of Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate.
Planning for the convention was still underway and speaking times could change, sources said.
Biden’s speech is still in the works, according to a source, but it will clearly be a different speech than the one he expected to deliver three weeks ago, when he was still the Democratic presidential nominee.
