Officially: first cars with Huawei’s HarmonyOS to arrive by the end of 2021

At the Huawei HDC2021 conference, Yu Chengdong, managing director of consumer business, announced that the first cars with a multimedia platform based on the HarmonyOS operating system will be released by the end of 2021. They will be released by the local company Xiaokang, presenting four medium-sized SUVs at once. The report from the conference was prepared by the IT Home edition.

In the past, Yu Chengdong has emphasized that HarmonyOS-A (a special version of the system for cars – “A”) is the only open platform for cars. Huawei is already working with over 80 hardware and software partners to develop it. According to a company spokesman, the developers strive to provide a system that has no shortage of applications or problems with updates. HarmonyOS-A needs to be hardware friendly, open to applications thanks to APIs, and support cross-device collaboration.
