Okoye to star in ‘Black Panther’ spin-off series on Disney +

When Marvel promised to keep the legacy of Black Panther and Chadwick Boseman, he meant it, as the hit movie’s universe is about to expand with a new series that will address the origins of Okoye, the relentless leader of Wakanda’s army.

Portrayed by Danai Gurira, actress who also participates in The Walking Dead, Okoye will be the main character of this new series that, according to different reports, will be part of a whole franchise in Disney + based on Wakanda and Black Panther.

Although there are not many details about the story yet, it is known that it will be developed by Ryan Coogler, the same director who brought the first installment of Back Panther and is currently working on the sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

With ‘Black Panther’, Ryan brought a unique story and iconic characters to the big screen in a memorable and meaningful way, creating an unrepeatable cultural moment. For his part and while the rest of the cast and a possible premiere date for the spin-off, Gurira is working on a biopic about Shirley Chisholm. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever It will hit theaters on July 8, 2022.
