Sony today officially unveiled the flagship and very expensive Xperia Pro-I smartphone. A feature of the novelty, of course, is an image sensor of an optical format 1 inch with a resolution of 12 megapixels. Such a sensor should demonstrate an unprecedented (for a smartphone) quality of shooting in low light conditions, since it has very large pixels – 2.4 microns in size. The main sensor is paired with a 24mm Zeiss Tessar T lens with variable apertures of F / 2.0 and F / 4.0.
Also in the Sony Xperia Pro-I camera system there is a portrait lens with a focal length of 50 mm and an aperture of f / 2.4 and an ultra wide-angle lens with a focal length of 16 mm and an aperture of f / 2.2. Both are paired with 12-megapixel sensors, but of a much smaller size.
Sony notes that the Xperia Pro-I uses a professional-grade Real-time Eye autofocus system that recognizes both people and animals. Autofocus has 315 points that cover 90 percent of the sensor area. For more convenience, Sony has provided a two-position shutter release key on the side edge.
There is one more round button, it immediately starts video recording (maximum quality – 4K at 120 fps). For videographers, Sony even offered a special accessory with the self-explanatory name Vlog Monitor.
It mounts to the back of your smartphone, has a 3.5-inch 720p screen, and has presets for multiple video capture modes. The main camera system has a fourth module – 3D ToF, and the front camera of the smartphone uses an 8-megapixel sensor and a lens with an aperture of F / 2.0.
The screen in the Xperia Pro-I is also special, with a 6.5-inch 4K OLED panel (3840 x 1644 pixels). The frame rate is 120 Hz, the polling rate of the sensor layer is 240 Hz. The display is protected by tempered Gorilla Glass Victus. The back panel of the smartphone is also framed with glass – it uses Gorilla Glass 6.
The Xperia Pro-I is built on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 platform, with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of flash storage. The OS was Android 11. The battery capacity is 4500 mAh, 30W fast charging is supported.
Other features of the smartphone are dust and water protection in accordance with the IP68 degree, the presence of a standard headphone jack and stereo speakers, support for Dolby Atmos. Dimensions Xperia Pro-I are 166 x 72 x 8.9 mm, weight – 211 grams.
The price of the new item is $ 1,800. Pre-orders will begin accepting on October 28, but retail sales will only start in December.
