On vacation with his family, a professor from Minas Gerais drowns in the south of Bahia

A tourist from Minas Gerais died, this Tuesday (15), after drowning on Arakakai beach, in Santa Cruz Cabrália, one of the historic cities located in the extreme south of Bahia. Valdeir Rocha da Silva, 49 years old, was a geography teacher and was on vacation in the region with his family.

According to the Civil Police, the incident indicates that both family members and other bathers tried to carry out the rescue. But after being removed from the sea and resuscitation maneuvers were carried out, there was no success.

The Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was also called and upon arriving at the scene, the team confirmed the death.

Guides were issued for forensic examination and removal of the body, and hearings are underway to clarify the case, which is being investigated by the Santa Cruz Territorial Police Station.

Some friends paid tribute and mourned Valdeir’s death on social media. one of them wrote: “Geography has lost a reference. It’s sad to know that, on Teacher’s Day, we lost a great defender of education. A family lost a father, a husband, a brother, a son.”

On the morning of this Wednesday (16), the Legal Medical Institute of Porto Seguro (IML) released the body for transfer to the city of Capitão Enéas (MG), where the burial will take place.
