Simon Cowell, producer responsible for bringing the singers together Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson in the band One Direction In 2010, he spoke in a new interview about whether he believes in the group’s possible return to music.
In an interview published on the podcast The Diary of a CEO, Simon Cowell reflected on having mentored the quintet. The group was founded by the producer in the televised competition “The X Factor”, where each of the former members initially performed solo.
“It was almost obvious to me from the show that they were going to be a big hit. They were the perfect group,” commented Cowell.
In the podcast, the producer also commented on advice he gave to the group.
“Don’t complain about the invasion of privacy, there will always be people who do that. Don’t complain about the long hours, because that’s what comes with success. If you don’t mind this, everything will be more fun”, he pointed out.
Can One Direction return?
“I doubt it,” replied Simon Cowell when asked if he believes in the group’s return. According to him, the former members own the band’s name and, because of this, they cannot make any type of return without everyone’s approval. “I should have continued as the owner of the name. It’s the only thing I regret.”
In Brazil recently, Louis Tomlinson even said that he would agree to a comeback. “I hope so. Do I think it’s likely? I don’t know. The difficult thing is that over time it becomes more complicated to predict. If I were to think now, I would say yes, I think we can go back”, said the singer.
