OneWeb communication will start working after the next launch of satellites

On the official OneWeb page on the social network Twitter, the company announced that by the end of 2021 it is planned to provide coverage throughout the entire territory above the 50th parallel of northern latitude, including in almost all regions of Russia.

OneWeb stated:

Mission completed successfully. There are already 218 of our satellites in orbit, and there is only one launch left before we can provide communications services north of the 50th parallel by the end of this year. ”

The next launch of OneWeb satellites from the Vostochny cosmodrome is scheduled for July 1, after which it will be possible to start providing OneWeb communication services. The company’s technical director, Massimiliano Ladovac, confirmed that the company has established communications with all 36 satellites launched into orbit on Saturday night by the Soyuz-2.1b rocket.

During the live broadcast of the launch, Mikhail Kaigorodov, commercial director of the British company OneWeb in Russia, announced interesting news for Russian users: OneWeb communication services will be technically available from the territory of Russia at the end of 2021.

The second phase of the deployment of the first generation of OneWeb satellites should be completed in 2022. It will enable OneWeb to provide global coverage across the globe.

OneWeb intends to deploy a low-orbit constellation of more than 600 microsatellites (weighing 150 kg) to provide high-speed broadband Internet access services everywhere, whose customers should primarily be Wi-Fi, LTE or 5G operators, as well as Internet providers.
