Only one Miami restaurant receives two Michelin stars; check list

O Michelin Guide officially arrived at Florida and elected on Thursday (9) the best restaurants in Miami, Orlando and Tampa. all in all, 15 houses received the famous stars and another 29 entered the Bib Gourmand category – list designating good quality and good price restaurants.

At the premiere of the Florida edition, the only restaurant to be awarded two stars was L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon one of the most emblematic of Miami, in the Design District neighborhood.

Opened in 2019, the venue has been rocking the city’s food scene since opening by blending French food with inventive, internationally-influenced cuisine. In addition to à la carte options, the tasting menus are successful, such as o “Gustative Evolution”, a seven-time sequence with six courses and a dessert. The value? US$ 280, around R$ 1,400.

The guide highlighted the excellent cuisine of the place and the positioning of Miami compared to other cities where the late chef Joël Robuchon has restaurants – which continue his legacy – such as New York, Paris and Tokyo.

He was even considered one of the best chefs in the world, and has accumulated around 32 Michelin stars throughout his career.

In addition to L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, 10 other Miami restaurants have received a Michelin star, including korean steakhouse quote O Japanese hide and the american The Surf Club – the latter inside the new Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club, in the Surfside area.

Outside the city, the Michelin Guide also recognized four other restaurants in Orlando, with one star each, ranging from steakhouses to Asian restaurants. They are Knife & Spoon, Capa, Kadence and Soseki.

Good value for money restaurants

The city of Tampa did not get any starred restaurants, but it made the Bib Gourmand list with three houses. Thus, of the 29 restaurants in the category, 19 are in Miami and another seven are in Orlando.

From the list stands out the Zak the Baker bakery which is reputed to be one of the best in Miami – which means that it is very busy, with lines and crowded tables, both indoors and outdoors.

Croissants, cookies, cinnamon rolls, olive bread with zattar, sandwiches and also traditional Jewish baked goods, such as bureka and babka, are foods that can be enjoyed here.

Also entered the category Lung Yai Thai Tapas, small Thai restaurant which has a line at the door and praised food made by locals.

Inspired by the traditional street food of the Asian country, the place serves typical delicacies such as pad thai ($13), fried rice with blue crab ($15), crispy duck with basil ($21) and a papaya salad. green salad ($11) with tomato, peanuts and green beans with a Thai-style lemon sauce.
