The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has cut its forecast of an increase in global demand for oil in 2022 by 300,000 barrels per day (bpd), to 3.1 million bpd, according to a monthly report published on Thursday, 11. .
Of the total, OPEC estimates that the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) will account for 1.6 million bpd and countries outside the group, for 1.5 million bpd.
With the revisions, the cartel now calculates that worldwide demand this year will reach 100 million bpd.
For 2023, OPEC reiterated its projection that global consumption will expand by 2.7 million bpd to 102.7 million bpd.

In the report released on Thursday, OPEC maintained its forecast for the increase in oil supply from producers outside the group in 2022, at 2.1 million bpd, to 65.8 million bpd.
The countries that should contribute most to the increase in supply in 2022 are the USA, Canada, Brazil, China and Guyana, says OPEC. On the other hand, a drop in production is expected from Indonesia and Thailand.
For 2023, OPEC’s forecast continues to be an increase of 1.7 million bpd in the supply of oil outside the cartel, to 67.5 million bpd.
Also in the report, OPEC reports that its production grew 162,000 bpd in July compared to June, to an average of 28.84 million bpd, according to secondary sources.
