Optimism reported the distribution of 48 million tokens

Optimism Protocol Command announced about the distribution of unclaimed tokens of the first airdrop. It covered 48 million OPs, which were distributed among 88 thousand unique addresses.

The drop began on September 15, 2023 and lasted about 12 hours. All participants received the OP directly to their address.

This move was part of the project’s long-term strategy, as confirmed by a representative of the development team:

“The distribution of the remaining tokens will allow the core teams to focus on other work on smart contracts and airdrops.”

The distribution included 48 million OP – about $66 million. It is noteworthy that some users complained that they did not receive tokens, although they met the requirements.

Let us remind you that first airdrop from Optimism took place in the summer of 2022. The second is in February 2023. In total, the protocol administration planned to allocate 19% of the entire OP proposal to distributions.

At the end of the second drop, 13.73% remained. The date for the third airdrop has not yet been set.

The OP course barely responded to the distribution. At the time of writing, the asset is trading at $1.4, according to TradingView.
