Orietta Berti, fashion icon more and more in Mille

Born under the sign of Gemini in 1943, precisely on June 1st (“the same day as Marilyn Monroe, but it went better for me”, she specifies in the autobiographical book Between red flags and holy water fonts published in 2020), no one could argue that a Orietta Berti you lack the DNA of a true diva. Style icon for grandmothers and grandchildren, it has also conquered Gen Z, not only for its innate sympathy, but above all with look.

Today, at 78 the nightingale of Cavriago is unstoppable: in addition to packing up and traveling around the world with Mara Mayoons e Sandra Milo (we are already looking forward to seeing them together in 2022 in the Sky program, Those good girls), will be judge a The Voice Senior and, as always, a regular guest at the table of What’s the weather like of his friend Fabio Fazio. Everyone wants it, everyone looks for it. Because Orietta, as we said, for more than fifty years of career, has been able to put the dots on the «I», indeed on the «O», also in terms of style.

His latest outfits on the stage of the Ariston branded GCDS (he showed off the items of the Neapolitan brand in the video of the hit in February Mille, the catchphrase of last summer alongside Achille Lauro and Fedez) have overshadowed, after a long time, the primacy of the most discussed outfit spotted at the Sanremo Festival, namely the one by Fausto Puglisi complete with a free butterfly split (tattoo) that Belen Rodriguez has made legendary in 2012.

The clothes of the singer, a national monument of Italian pop music, are remembered almost a year later as definitely the hottest of the 2021 edition: profusion of bright colors such as cherry, electric blue, total gold and cyclamen with like-catching details, such as the now iconic A-side height shells and shoes with an important platform have generated social comments and appreciation galore.

The rest Orietta Berti and her clothes have aroused great curiosity for decades in the fans, and not only, precisely because the singer has always tried through her outfits to express her personality and creativity, beyond her tastes.

At the beginning, after the early 60s characterized by bon ton dresses and suits, it then stood out for its originality among sequins, ruffles and striped prints. Impossible not to remember an outfit in particular from those years that she herself talks about in her book: «Unforgettable the dress that I wore in 1969: it was di Mila Nice which in those years was popular among the most chic women in Milan. My producer accompanied me to the designer’s atelier in via Monte Napoleone. Schön looked at me and tried to find the most suitable one among her clothes to enhance my body. I immediately spotted one with a call of flowers on a green background but it had already been assigned to Milva. In the meantime, the designer finished her search and showed me the dress that she considered suitable for me, worn by a two-meter-tall model: it was long, all in sequins, with vertical black, white and yellow stripes that, below the knees, made a slight curve. “It looks a bit scratched to me,” I commented unconvinced. “It’s the latest fashion,” she replied enthusiastically. “You will see in the 70s there will be an explosion of stripes and color” ».

When Orietta took to the stage in front of millions of viewers, however, the television was in black and white and penalized rainbows: the overall effect of the sinuous striped dress, in tulle, lined with silk and totally covered with black, black and white sequins. yellow (cost “two million and eight hundred thousand lire”, practically the cost of an apartment at the time “, as she herself writes) was that of a motorway junction, so much so that Alighiero Noschese has targeted it in his imitations for years.

In any case, in the 70s, the interpreter of As long as the boat goes, in step with trends, also experiments with men’s suits with a rigorous elephant’s paw, leather jackets and maxi skirts with a plaid print. In the 80s she always wore Trussardi, long and worked dresses that Nicola Trussardi himself chose for her and that the singer, like everyone else, keeps in her rich fashion archive. In the 90s he ranges from knee-length skirts, palazzo pants, cardigans, long-sleeved tops with jewel details, daring only with floral prints or micro transparencies in lace.

Still in his autobiography he tells that, chosen for the conduct of Sanremo Night in 1999, she was supposed to wear Gattinoni outfits, selected for her by Giovanni Ciacci, her stylist of the time. All the clothes, however, were stolen on the Rome-Genoa train and for this reason they opted for knitted jackets bought on the run in various Ligurian boutiques: “I showed off in all sizes, the narrow ones I left open, the large ones were pinned with safety pins on the back, ”he says.

In the 2000s his style settled on soft trousers combined with oblique-cut kaftans and longdresses worked with a slippery line but Orietta’s wardrobe is always open to contaminations with young realities, as we have seen (to underline also the rock jewels, such as the diamond brass knuckles ring, which has sent the web into raptures, flaunted at last Sanremo).

Orietta with a thousand shades, in short, not to mention that his drawer of the lingerie it is better equipped than that of Dita Von Teese: between guêpière and hot underwear, the music icon has hot collectible pieces from all over the world. That she, the perfect collector she is (she has everything at home, from Smurfs to dolls to unlimited series of holy fonts), specified via Instagram, however, never wear.

Lie or truth? Combined, perhaps, with some feathered fans (an accessory she loved), the singer, at least in an exclusive vision of Osvaldo, perhaps thought of throwing out some raises from the boxes. She was still born on the same day as Marilyn Monroe.
