THE Oscar will have a host for the first time since 2018 and will return to its former home at the Dolby Theater, ABC reported on Tuesday (11)
While other awards were postponed due to an increase in cases of Covid-19, Walt Disney Co’s ABC said plans remain in place to hold the Oscars, film’s highest honor, on March 27 in Los Angeles.
This year’s ceremony will have a host, ABC Entertainment President Craig Erwich told a Television Critics Association event. He did not provide details. “It could be me,” he joked.
The Oscars were presented by celebrities, but had no host in 2019, 2020 and 2021. The broadcast’s audience rates have dropped in recent years, reaching a low of 10.4 million people in the United States in 2021. awards also fell.
British actor fans Tom Holland suggested that he should present this year’s Oscars after the resounding success of his film “Spider-Man: No Homecoming”, possibly with his partner zendaya.
Holland told The Hollywood Reporter in December that he would “love” to present the awards. “If they ask me, I would, and it would be a lot of fun,” he declared.
Past presenters have included Jimmy Kimmel and comedians Chris Rock and Ellen DeGeneres.
ABC said in a statement that the 2022 Oscars will again take place at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. Last year, the awards were moved to the historic Union Station train station in downtown Los Angeles, with a small number of nominees and guests for Covid protection.
Oscar nominations will be announced on February 8.
