Otaviano Costa says he underwent surgery after being diagnosed with an aneurysm

The actor and presenter Octavian Costa 51, said he had gone through a surgery in the chest after discovering a aortic aneurysm .

In the video, published this Monday (22), he stated that he had been diagnosed with the disease 30 days ago, when he began to feel abdominal pain, subsequently consulting a cardiologist in early June.

“In a simple electrocardiogram, he detected the progression of something that was putting my life at risk. I had an aneurysm of the ascending thoracic aorta at a dangerous level,” he said.

“An aneurysm is a swelling of the vein. At any moment my aorta could rupture and it could be irreversible,” he added.

According to Otaviano, the surgery was performed at Hospital Sírio Libanês, in São Paulo, last week, under the supervision of cardiologist Roberto Kalil Filho.

“We decided to consider surgery as the definitive solution to this risk, which would not be fair for me to take any more. And it would not be fair to my girls, my family and my friends, to live a life under so much risk, knowing this information,” he said.

“My head started spinning because it’s not a minor surgery, it’s a very invasive surgery. I was very apprehensive. My life was at risk. I had the surgery, spent three days in the ICU and now I’m here, in an apartment in the coronary unit at Sírio Libanês. And I’m alive,” he celebrated.

“I still have a drain, I still have access, but we are going to recover. And now, with a lot of patience, I have started to get my life back. It is not easy. It is a physical reconditioning with a lot of physiotherapy”, he concluded.
