Pacheco announces that he will guide the tax relief project next Thursday

The president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), announced that next Thursday, 9th, he will guide the bill that extends the exemption from the payroll for two years. The proposal received approval from the Chamber and, after approval in the Senate, will depend on the sanction of the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro.

The project guarantees the reduction of charges levied on the payroll for 17 sectors of the economy by December 2023.

Supporters of the text point to the need for exemption to avoid dismissals. Together, the 17 sectors (including call center, communication, information technology, transport, civil construction, textile) employ 6 million workers.

“It is an important project because it reaches sectors with a high rate of employability, hence the reason for the project’s existence and for its merit”, said Pacheco at a press conference after a meeting with representatives of sectors benefited by the measure.

President Jair Bolsonaro has already spoken in favor of the extension.

The benefit ends in December of this year and, if the proposal is approved, it will be guaranteed until the end of 2023.

The approval of the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) of Precatório, which opens up a fiscal space of R$ 106.1 billion in 2022, should be enough to compensate for the lack of revenue caused by the tax exemption, according to Pacheco.
