That Paola Iezzi she was a queen of the stage is a fact, but from today she also attests to it with the new single, The Queens. The song – of which she is also the author – is intended to be a hymn to self-love and uniqueness, full of pop and dance references and a pinch of electropop.
The cover of the single The Queens
The word queen is a title, of course, but also a recognition of one’s value. And the inspiration is partly due to the artist’s participation in the jury of Drag Race Italia 3, available on Paramount+ every Friday. To the program – hosted by Priscillawhich also sees Paolo Camilli and Chiara Francini as jurors – her sister Chiara made a visit as a guest judge in an episode, but with this single it is clear that Paola also wants to dance alone.
The song was presented in absolute preview during the only Italian date of RuPaul’s Drag Race: Werq the World Tour 2023in Milan on November 12th in the presence of the competitors of this new edition.
«I wrote The Queens – explains the artist – to remind everyone that you can be queens even when you are excluded. This song talks about courage, about showing yourself for what you are, overcoming every fear by putting on your own crown.”
Paola Iezzi had already participated in the final last year Of Drag Race Italy (won by La Diamond), diving even further into the rainbow world of drag art. The third edition, which sees her in the permanent cast, allowed the public to discover a purer and more spontaneous version of the singer. Behind the jury she encourages, advises, helps, in short she wants to make the talent of the reality contestants shine and emerge.
