When facing the Japanese Kanoa Igarashi in the round of 16 of the 2024 Olympic Games the Brazilian surfer Gabriel Medina 30, went viral after posing for the cameras during her performance, as the moment ended up generating an iconic photo for the Olympics this year. It didn’t take long for famous media names to start reproducing the moment on social media, creating their own images in the style of the athlete’s pose (see the gallery above).
Former BBB and also surfer Pedro Scooby used social media to complain about the low scores given to Medina by referee Ben Lowe. When talking about the subject, he used a filter that imitates his friend’s pose.
The presenter Ana Furtado and the actor Marcelo Serrado recreated the images on Instagram, emphasizing that “gringos” and “jealous people” will say that the records are montages.
The musician Zeca Pagodinho won a version of the photo, based on his also iconic image holding a beer. Other famous names, such as Gustavo Mioto and Milton Cunha also reproduced their own versions.
In addition to celebrities, Brazilian athletes who won medals at the 2024 Olympic Games were also “inserted” into Gabriel Medina’s photo, such as the gymnast Rebecca Andrade and the skater Rayssa Leal.
