O Rio de Janeiro won an option of lively kiosk on the edge of the Leblon . The restaurant Duck with orange a sushi bar that has been in Ipanema since 2018, opened a new unit in place of Azur, owned by Pedro de Artagão, which ended its activities in early January.
With an investment of more than R$ 3 million, the proposal for the new space is to follow the line of beach clubswith DJs, a varied menu – with emphasis on Japanese cuisine – and many drinks for guests to spend the whole day on the beach with a good structure.
commanded by chef Andrea Tinoco and your son Pedro Tinoco the kiosk received more than 5 thousand people in the first days of opening, during the carnival, and promises to be the point of this beach region, mainly on weekends.
“I wanted to bring something different, that would impact the public in Leblon, without losing the essence of Pato com Laranja. I thought of something that goes very well with my lifestyle. I love the beach and I love mixing work with leisure. It coincided with the point being free. We signed the contract in December and in February we started operations. It was a quick implementation and the realization of a dream of bringing a sushi bar to Leblon beach”, emphasizes Pedro Tinoco, one of the partners.
“Pato com Laranja is a place for everyone. People of all styles and ages can enjoy everything from the menu – contemporary and oriental – to the atmosphere. We hope that the proposal conquers the public more and more and that this super movement continues”, he completes.
With about 150 seats and 60 employees, Pato also formed a partnership with beach hut owners. “We understand that we live in a community and that they have been working here for a long time. So, they continue activating and selling their products to our customers as well”, he explains.
The story that began in 1993
Although the current generation of Cariocas have known Pato com o Laranja in Ipanema since 2018, the history of the restaurant begins much earlier, in 1993, in the center of the city. Chef Andrea Tinoco ran the establishment named after one of her favorite dishes – and, of course, one of the house’s flagships: Pato com Laranja.
With two partners, he also brought Japanese food to the forefront of the menu and implemented the idea of a “Sushi Bar” when it was not very common to see in the city.
The restaurant closed its doors in 2000 after the central region underwent extensive renovations and impacted access to the street on which it was located. The family then opened the Devassa bar in Ipanema, where it stayed for 17 years. In 2018, after Pedro’s dream, they decided to rescue the old brand’s name and proposal, with some contemporary touches, in the same place as the family bar.
Since then, the place has been known for its good cuisine, the presence of executives during the day and a lively crowd at night, who take the opportunity to dine and enjoy a daily performance by guest DJs. There, the customer finds different options on the menu divided by snacks and contemporary dishes on one side and on the other options from the sushi bar.
The kiosk menu
The menu for the new kiosk is still under construction. Due to the rapid implementation of the space, with record renovation time, some points still need to be aligned.
