P.enn Badgley plays one of the most famous killers and stalkers of the moment: Joe Goldberg. The latter, protagonist of the crime series Youavailable on Netflix, is about to return between February and March 2023 with new episodes, twists and presumably other poor victims.

The actor, also known for the role of the reclusive and introspective Dan Humphrey of Gossip Girl, has always condemned the criminal behavior of Joe Goldberg and repeatedly filmed the fans who romanticized his figure.

Recently, however, the actor let slip an almost loving (albeit hypothetical) declaration towards Goldberg: “Let’s imagine it was possible for me to somehow meet him in a controlled circumstance and he had an interest in listening to me, I would really try to love him. . The reality is that he has never received love. I would hug him. I would tighten it ».

Um … suddenly, my best friend’s 8-minute audio telling me why she gave her ex super toxic yet another chance (ignoring her obvious red flags) seems almost reasonable (and her red flags have faded) from a deep red to a shy pink).

The actor, however, wanted to add, to avoid understandable misunderstandings: «I think I have been clear about how much I hate his actions. I don’t think others should try to love him, much less that he deserves it. I’m just saying that I would try to love him ».

Did the two acting skills lead him to play the character so well that he manipulated himself ?!

Loneliness, the pursuit of love, or lack of affection are no excuses for committing murder or perilously obsessing over someone. Never. And Penn Badgley, who has always been lucid in his analysis of the series, knows it well… that’s why this sudden Red Cross syndrome that has pervaded him amazes us.

We’ll see if in season 4 Joe Goldberg will attempt the path of redemption (deserving the hypothetical embrace and compassion of his interpreter) or will continue to shed blood and terror. In my opinion the second, in your opinion?
