Petrobras recovers BRL 439 million through leniency agreements

Petrobras informs that, over the last quarter, it received the return of approximately R$ 439 million, recovered through leniency agreements with the companies Camargo Corrêa, Novonor (formerly Odebrecht) and SBM, as well as a collaboration agreement with Pedro noise.

With these returns, the total amount of funds transferred to Petrobras’ coffers (including subsidiaries), as a result of collaboration, leniency and repatriation agreements, exceeded the amount of R$ 6.7 billion.

Camargo Corrêa returned, in October, BRL 235.6 million to Petrobras and another BRL 6.9 million to Transpetro, a subsidiary of the Company and covered by the same leniency agreement, in addition to BRL 88 million already received, representing some of the installments of the total amount to be returned.

Novonor, in turn, paid R$71.3 million to Petrobras and another R$728,000 to Transpetro, representing part of the total amount to be returned, which must be paid in 22 annual installments.

The leniency agreements of Camargo Corrêa and Novonor were signed with the Federal Public Ministry (MPF), as well as with the Federal Comptroller General (CGU) and the Federal Attorney General’s Office (AGU).

SBM returned R$113.7 million to Petrobras between August and October 2022. Approximately R$48.7 million was paid directly to the company and another R$64.9 million was deducted from payments owed by Petrobras to SBM as a result of current contracts for chartering platforms and providing services.

SBM’s leniency agreement was signed in 2018 with Petrobras, in addition to CGU and AGU. Except for the amounts reimbursed in this last quarter, approximately R$ 1.1 billion have already been returned by SBM to Petrobras as a result of the execution of the agreement.

The reimbursements stem from Petrobras’ status as a victim in the crimes investigated within the scope of Operation Lava Jato.

Petrobras claims that it has adopted the appropriate measures in search of adequate compensation for the damages caused to it.

The company acts as a co-author of the Federal Public Ministry and the Federal Government in 32 administrative improbity actions in progress, in addition to being an assistant to the prosecution in 90 criminal actions related to illicit activities investigated by Operação Lava Jato.
