PF and Revenue carry out operation against smuggling, corruption and drug trafficking

The Federal Police (PF) and the Federal Revenue Service arrested, this Wednesday (17), two people in the Port of Itaguaí in Rio de Janeiro, as part of the “Artemis” operation.

The authorities are executing 31 search and seizure warrants in the states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo and Alagoas against a criminal organization formed by public agents and businessmen.

The objective is to combat smuggling, corruption, drug trafficking and money laundering.

The investigations began in 2020, after actions carried out by the Revenue in the Port of Itaguaí.

The PF was informed that suspicious behavior was detected on the part of servers and external agents.

As the investigation progressed, several people were involved in the crimes.

In addition to the arrests and searches, the kidnapping of goods and money is being carried out, with values ​​reaching R$ 30 million.

This operation is carried out simultaneously with another called “Cascata”, launched by the PF in São Paulo and has the work of more than 150 police officers throughout Brazil.

The Federal Public Ministry also participates in this operation.
