PF and Revenue intercept eight people with drugs at Guarulhos airport, in SP

Eight people were arrested this past weekend at São Paulo International Airport, in Guarulhos, transporting drugs in luggage. The action of the Federal Police (PF), together with the Federal Revenue, took place between Friday (10) and this Monday (13).

On Friday, Federal Revenue officials detained a passenger who disembarked from Manaus with a suspicious substance in her checked-in luggage. After the forensic examinations were carried out, the suspect was arrested in flagrante delicto for transporting almost 10kg of a more potent form of marijuana called skunk.

In another action, on the same day, federal police arrested a national passenger from Nigeria, who entered the country upon request for refuge and intended to board a flight to the city of Lagos, in his home country, being arrested in possession of almost 3 kg of cocaine hidden in false bottoms in the backpack.

On Saturday (11), according to the PF, federal police arrested a South African trying to board a flight to Dubai with more than 3 kg of cocaine; a Nigerian, with tickets to Qatar and Nigeria, transporting almost 6kg of clothes starched with cocaine; a Brazilian, with tickets to Portugal and Dublin, Ireland, with almost 3kg of cocaine in false bottoms of a backpack, and yet another Brazilian, detained by Federal Revenue officials, with 1.5kg of the same drug also hidden in false bottoms in a backpack.

On Sunday afternoon (12), a Portuguese woman was caught by the police with 6 kg of cocaine sewn to the lining of a backpack. The suspect, who was arrested red-handed, would embark for Lisbon, in Portugal.

Finally, early this Monday (13), federal police seized 4 kg of cocaine inside packages of children’s sheets. The owner of the luggage where the drug was located, a woman from Bolivia, was arrested in flagrante delicto. She intended to leave for Cape Town, South Africa.

International drug trafficking is punishable by 5 to 20 years, in addition to a fine.
