PF carries out operation against international arms trafficking in MG

A criminal group specialized in international trafficking and trade in “large caliber” firearms were targets of a Federal Police operation, this Wednesday (23), in Uberlândia, in the Triangulo Mineiro.

According to the PF, the agents served six preventive arrest warrants and five search and seizure warrants during Operation “Scutum”.

Among the orders, three were fulfilled in the city of Uberlândia, one in Goiânia (GO) and another in Campo Alegre de Goiás (GO). Police seized ammunition, weapons and luxury vehicles.

Investigations into the scheme showed that the criminal group brought high-powered, long-range firearms from Paraguay to the Triângulo Mineiro region.

When the weapons arrived in Minas Gerais, they were resold to individuals from other states of the Federation, such as Rio de Janeiro and Bahia.

Those being investigated may face charges of criminal association, illegal firearms trade and international trafficking of firearms for restricted or prohibited use.
