Previously, consumer electronics solutions accounted for up to 80% of Phison’s revenue. In 2020, this share dropped to 30%. At the same time, sales of embedded storage through ODM channels for use in PCs increased.
In particular, the company is ramping up shipments of PCIe Gen4 SSD controllers. Moreover, samples of the next generation SSD controllers supporting PCIe Gen5 have already started shipping. These controllers are designed for use in enterprise storage systems, data centers, and gaming computers. The manufacturer expects shipments of PCIe SSD controllers to skyrocket in 2021 and 2022.
