Photos, Still and WeWorld together against malnutrition

A fundraiser to combat hunger and malnutrition in Mali and Burkina Faso. It is the special collaboration of over one hundred photographers together with Still Photography e WeWorld, an independent Italian organization present in 25 countries including Italy, active from 21 October (and until January 31) at this link. A photograph to change the world: an important and prestigious project both for the quality of the works proposed and for the range of photographers involved.

In recent years, the Sahel region has been affected by increasing violence with attacks fivefold in Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger since 2016, among the poorest countries in the world, at the bottom of the GDP scale. The direct consequence is migration. From year to year the displaced persons have increased to millions and millions. According to a recent report dell’Onu more than a million refugees and over 2 thousand victims of the attacks. Entire areas are in a situation of extreme poverty, therefore lack of food, water, primary resources of all kinds.

International agencies have raised the alarm by speaking of “millions of hungry people in Burkina Faso and Mali due to a rapidly developing crisis situation aggravated by climate change that exacerbates the severe drought affecting the country “. In these territories WeWorld, which has always been active with Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid projects to guarantee the rights of the most vulnerable communities, starting with women, girls and boys, is present by responding to the need for food of the most vulnerable families, during the period of Drought.

Over a hundred artists have made their works available, among the first to have joined: Maurizio Galimberti, Alan Maglio, Marco Craig, Simona Ghizzoni, Francesca Volpi, Isabella Balena Giovanni Diffidenti, Efrem Raimondi, Maki Galimberti, Cesare Cicardini , Fabrizio Spucches and many others.

Through the virtual gallery, created under the artistic direction of Denis Curti, an established name in the world of photographic collecting, people who want to support the project will be able to choose their favorite shot which, with a donation of 100 euros, will be printed on fine paper. art, in free edition, and sent to the donor’s home.

Under the artistic direction of Denis Curti, curator and well-known connoisseur of the world of photographic collecting, the project develops through the creation of a virtual gallery in which numerous of the main protagonists of contemporary photography will meet together to guarantee food to vulnerable women, children and communities in Mali and Burkina Faso.

The project will be presented on November 10 at STill Galleria, in the presence of the photographers and photographers protagonists. The virtual gallery will come enriched day by day with new works and other photographers over the three months.
