Planes grounded in Berlin, Bremen and Hamburg

The airports of Berlin, Bremen and Hamburg announced that they will not take off today, Monday (13/3) of them commercial flights due to a strike by the Verdi union with wage demands.

“Because of the warning strike workers at airport security checks, there will be no commercial flight departures from BER today, March 13. Arrivals will also be affected,” the Berlin airport underlined on its website, as reported by the Athens News Agency.

Hamburg Airport also announced that arrivals may be delayed or cancelled. Bremen has announced that there will be no flights from its airport.

The Verdi union has called for security staff to strike at Berlin airport over pay disputes over night work, as well as weekend and public holiday work, which have been going on for years.
