Poland is ready to deploy all MIG-29 aircraft at Rammstein Air Base in Germany and make them available to the United States, according to the country’s Foreign Ministry, according to Reuters.
The Foreign Minister also called on other NATO countries that have aircraft of this type to do the same.
US lawmakers have called on President Joe Biden to facilitate the transfer of fighter jets to Ukraine from Poland and other NATO countries following a call by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“The authorities of the Republic of Poland … are ready to deploy – immediately and free of charge – all MIG-29 aircraft at Rammstein Air Base and make them available to the US Government,” the ministry said.
“At the same time, Poland is asking the United States to provide us with used aircraft with similar operational capabilities. Poland is ready to immediately shape the conditions for the purchase of aircraft,” he added.
