The Civil Police of Minas Gerais arrested 20 people last Tuesday during an operation against organized crime carried out in the cities of Araxá, Uberlândia and Ibiá, in the Triângulo Mineiro region. Of the total arrests, 17 were due to preventive arrest warrants and three were caught in the act.
In addition to the arrests, 28 search warrants were served, resulting in the seizure of portions of marijuana and cocaine, digital scales, materials used to package drugs, two luxury cars, three motorcycles, card machines, ammunition, cell phones and around R$4,000 in cash.
According to investigations, conducted by the Araxá Regional Police Station, there was a nucleus of a criminal organization operating in the three cities, which would be responsible for large-scale drug trafficking, in addition to several property crimes.
The group’s involvement in various matters of interest to the criminal organization was investigated, such as recruiting new members to the association.
The operation had the participation of 115 civil police officers from all careers and had the support of the Aerotactical Coordination (CAT).
