The children of the ambassadors of Burkina Faso and Gabon, approached by armed military police in Ipanema, in the south of Rio de Janeiro, gave statements to the Civil Police on the morning of this Thursday (11).
The three black teenagers had guns pointed at them during the police action.
The statements were collected online by Rio de Janeiro police, since the two young men were in Brasília. They are being represented by the same lawyer, but they testified at different times.
Investigative sources told CNN that no representative from Itamaraty attended the hearings. When asked, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not comment and instructed the reporting team to contact the police authorities, who are investigating the case.
The two PMs who approached the five teenagers on July 3rd are expected to be heard at the headquarters of the Special Tourism Support Unit (Deat), in the Leblon neighborhood, around 2 pm this Thursday (11).
Deat continues to investigate the case in collaboration with the Racial Crimes and Intolerance Crimes Division (Decradi).
