A police officer at the helm of a patrol car was injured this morning when he was attacked with a knife in front of the Cannes police station in southeastern France by a man who said he had committed the act “in the name of the prophet”, sources close to law enforcement told AFP. order.

The attack took place around 06:30 (local time; 07:30 Greek time).
No information on the identity of the perpetrator has been given by the police so far.
