Police report destruction after Hezbollah attacks in northern Israel

Israeli police reported serious damage in the north of the country after a Hezbollah rocket attack this Friday (4).

Earlier this Friday, the Israeli army stated that around twenty-four projectiles were identified as they crossed into Israeli territory from Lebanon.

Police officers said they had received information about several areas affected by rocket fire in Kiryat Shmona and Lower Galilee, the region where the most serious damage was recorded.

Several cases of fires were recorded, but there were no reports of injuries.

Police officers and bomb disposal teams were at the sites of the attacks.

Fire crews are working to extinguish a fire that broke out following a direct attack on a garage in Kiryat Shmona, a statement from the Fire and Rescue Services said.

“Firefighters are working to extinguish the fire that broke out at the scene, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and searching for injured people,” the statement said.

The attacks followed warning sirens in Kiryat Shmona and neighboring communities.

Hezbollah declared that it had targeted Kiryat Shmona with a rocket attack “in defense of Lebanon and its people, and in response to the barbaric Israeli attacks on cities, villages and civilians.”
