Police seize a ton of marijuana in a truck in the interior of SP

A man was arrested red-handed with a ton of marijuana on the General Euclides de Oliveira Figueiredo highway (SP-563), in Mirante do Paranapanema, in the interior of São Paulo. The drug, seized last Monday (13), was hidden in the false bottom of the vehicle, which was being driven without load.

According to information from the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the seizure took place during “Operation Impacto”, to combat organized crime, with a focus on drug trafficking.

During the inspection, police officers from the 2nd Highway Police Battalion and agents from the Integrated Forces to Combat Organized Crime (Ficco), of the Federal Police, suspected the semi-trailer truck with Paraguayan license plates that was traveling without any cargo.

During the approach, when inspecting the body of the vehicle, the police found a false bottom where the drugs were hidden, all separated into bricks.

The driver was detained at the scene and taken to the Federal Police headquarters in Presidente Prudente. He was made available to the courts and must face criminal charges for drug trafficking.
