THE Pope Francis announced that it had indefinitely postponed the tour in Africaas he had planned a trip for the beginning of July to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and South Sudan.
According to a statement issued by the Vatican, the pope canceled the tour due to a knee problemwhile the director of the Holy See’s press office, Matteo Bruni, stated that “accepting the recommendations of his doctors and in order not to jeopardize his treatment, the Holy Father, with great sorrow, is forced to postpone the trip (…) for “A later date has not yet been set,” said Matteo Bruni, director of the Holy See’s press office.
However, the announcement does not mention the pope’s trip to Canada, which is scheduled for July 24-30. The tour in Africa was scheduled for July 2-7 and the Vatican had even given details of its program. Francis planned to visit the cities of Kinshasa, Goma and Jumba, among others.
